(law enforcement, child protection, mental health, and medical providers)
meet to coordinate an investigation of possible child abuse. |

Children should be seen immediately if:
- They have been sexually or physically assaulted within the last 72 hours.
- They have physical symptoms that could be related to the assault.
- They are severely depressed or anxious.

| The Children’s Place provides evaluations for children up to age 18 who live in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough
and outlying areas served by the Mat-Su OCS. We accept referrals from law enforcement (Alaska State Troopers
and city police departments), the Office of Children’s Services (OCS) and medical care providers. |

Yes. The Children’s Place will bill law enforcement, Medicaid, and private insurance for medical exams,
and will assist in completing the paperwork for Violent Crimes Compensation, if appropriate.
Families are never billed for services. |
