About Us

                           The Children’s Place Mission:
To protect children in a nurturing environment by facilitating a collaborative
approach for the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

A place to be HEARD … A place to be HELPED

The Children’s Place is a non-profit, private agency modeled after Children’s Advocacy Centers around the country. The purpose is to provide a child-friendly, neutral facility where professionals from many agencies involved in the evaluation, investigation, and treatment of child abuse meet to coordinate and bring their services to the child and their family.

Opened in March of 1999, The Children’s Place is funded by federal, state, and local grants and private donations. The goals are to prevent re-traumatization of the child, provide families with counseling and other services during and after the investigation, and hold more offenders accountable.
