- Alaska has the highest rate of substantiated cases of child abuse in the nation
- The rate of child sexual abuse reports to OCS in the Mat-Su Valley has doubled from 1992-1996
- Child abuse is a significant risk factor for juvenile crime, school failure, teen pregnancy, and mental health problems
- No single agency has the training, personnel, resources or legal mandate to intervene effectively in child abuse cases. We work most effectively for children who have been abused when we work together
- Children who are victims of abuse can heal from these early experiences if they get help early on, and have a supportive adult in their lives who works to keep them safe
